Facebook IPO on Friday – May 18, 2012

The initial public offering will be profitable for the lucky individuals that were able to get into the original investment on Facebook. This will probably be a historic day for the stock market with the price stabilizing in the low 50s. The problem will be for the individual that will take a big hunk of money to buy Facebook stock thinking that they will make a lot of money on May 18th too. Watch as the tears fall for the individuals that purchased more than they can afford to own and wait for the market to reward them for their initial purchase. Most will be hoping that they will not cry at the end of the day.

Dougherty’s garden – Flower Index

I’m still trying to learn the ropes of this blog and will eventually get it. In the meantime, please excuse the spelling errors below but we will get it down one day. Here is the link to Dougherty’s Garden. Take a look at all the flowers that have been part of Dougherty’s Garden over the years.

Euphorbia milii. Commonly rferred to as the ‘Crown of Thorns’ plant. This plant should be used with due care because of the numerous points on the stems. It produces quite a few small flowers if given the right amount of sun. I was fortunate enough to receve an assotment of pants wih different plants colors and sizes. I’m still going thought he learning curve on this plant and repotting some new pups that I was fortunate to spot while these plants matured over the winter.

GreenDougherty Blog Activation

leave a comment »

It’s time for a new beginning. Lean and mean is the new call.

Facebook will be used for the group activity and this blog will allow me to post what travels through my mind from time to time. I get a kick out of people and will use this to post my little view of the world.

My world will be a sort of time travel because I’ll drift back and forth over time in trying to capture some of life that came my way. A lot of humor and some not so funny. I did a lot of reading over time and would like to pass on some of the goodies that came across my path over time.

Also, love any comments. If I could live with Mr. Millman from the Yorkville Message Board over the years, I can live with any comment. So, please leave a comment.

Oldies – Doo Wop – Another Passion

leave a comment »

Forgot to mention my passion for music from the late 50′s called oldies or doo wop. The only place you’ll get to hear this type of music is on the internet. The best place to listen is at www.doowopradio4u.com where you’ll hear a different DJ every night between 8 and 10PM. Just sit back and listen or interact with some of the ,listeners and Djs who may be in the chat room. Also, during the day, you can hear the doo wop music streamed for your listening convenience.

Sunday night has Ed the Oldies Knight who who has a lot of back ground info on these groups. Ed will fill you in who started this genre of music and features a group and their music they brought to you towards the end of a Sunday night show. Also, on Monday night, you get an extra treat with Rockin Bob who plays doo wop music. He gives you back ground on the music that was big in the Boston area. He introduced me to the Sophomores and their great music. A DJ is on every night from 8 to 10PM.

Stop by and give a listen. You’ll be back for more each evening.

We’re about Yorkville (nostalgia), palms, economics, healthcare. I was green before green became popular. In grew grass on cement near the sea shore (south side of LI) back in 1967. The lawnmower (scissor) was my first garden tool. I purchased plants from a place in Tenn from the Farmer’s Almanac. Enough back ground.
I knew computers were the place to be but while working at Morgan Guaranty and Truist Company, I found out that being Irish and trying to get into IT (everyone was Italian) would be difficult. So, I married an Italian and did it the hard way.
So the story starts…..
