greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 8, 2017

Another heavy period on the computer this with getting a Playlist for Picture Memories of Yorkville together. Just finished this project earlier this evening and posted a link to several groups on Facebook. It’s basically 29 videos covering hundreds of pictures collected over the years on assorted websites.

So, with that project finished, on to another for next week, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

Latest How To Video

Is It Green?

Palms of the Dougherty Garden

Yorkville Resources on the Net

Nostalgia

Irisha or Italiano

So You Served

So You Worked for Corporate America

Oldies (Doo Wop) Music

A Few Funnies From The Net

Jobs Out West

NOTE: Also, I’m still working on doing an intro for the assorted groups on Facebook under my Admin and putting a new intro for each group and the respective videos that I have related to that facebook group. Like I said, use the comment section to engage other visitors who leave comments on the videos and not only the facebook postings.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – December 1, 2017

Starting off the last month of the year on December 1st and trying to really get used to this but babysitting came to the forefront for three days this week doing the greendougherty.blog and a lot of time spent putting out an updated Out West Medical Employers took over most of my time.

So, with that purpose in mind, here goes with this weeks Friday Roundup.

greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – November 10, 2017

First off, today, November 10, 2017, is the U.S. Marine  Corps birthday, the 242nd Birthday since its founding in 1775. Oorah!

Now, getting back to the Friday Roundup.

The first thing that I’m concentrating on is doing a little editing on my KA Favorite Tunes, or, as I know them as Kick-Ass Favorite Tunes. Right now, we’re at 100+ but I know for sure that this list will grow if I get support (Subscribers).

Just added a few funnies from my email from Jim.

That covers this week’s updates to Marty’s Blogs. I’ll be adding tunes to the Oldies (Doo Wop) Music over time as I go through my music collection and look for the same tunes on YouTube.

We’re getting close to getting a weekly rhythm on these blogs and the weekly roundup on Friday. I got thousands of pictures and tunes to share and hopefully I can find a way to fund the day to day operations. Having side dinero would give me peace of mind.

Greendougherty.Blog – Friday Roundup – November 3, 2017

This latest roundup covers the introduction of a video of Marie’s Italian Recipes on Stuffed Manicotti and added to the Irisha or Italiano blog. Also, I restarted the Picture Memories of Yorkville with the latest No. 06. Enjoy.

I finished this project last night and now will edit each alphabetical list for accuracy, spelling, and duplication of tunes.

Another one of the blogs that I do periodically is that of So You Worked For Corporate America. For now, I’ll put the link to the original So You Worked for Corporate America blog. As I do another new blog, I’ll do that one on a separate blog and add a link on the Master Index So You Worked for Corporate America.

greendougherty.Blog – Irisha or Italiano

dominick iacone in mags 013111

Another one of the blogs that I do periodically is that of the Irisha or Italiano blog which related to my conversion to the Italian race, or, marrying an Italian. The Irisha or Italiano blog deals with that conversion period and the stories and the peiople that I met along that journey. What makes the stories a little funny is that when I joined the family, my father-in-law had a parkign lot in the middle of Little Italy and Chinatown on Hester Street, the Godfather saga was being filmed, the FBI and TV crews were following the boys on a regular basis getting ratings, pretty much like today, and via my father-in-law, I got to meet some of these people and heard a lot of stories.

greendougherty.Blog – Yorkville – 89th Street in Pictures

Featured

park lane 90th street

Since I started the greendougherty.Blog, it was inevitable that I would start a Yorkville spin every once in a while. It’s that time and we’ll start with the Streets of Yorkville. In this case, I chose 89th Street because it left a special niche in my heart for those moments from the past.

I added a picture of the Park Lane Movie House on 90th Street because my little story relates to looking at the other side of the Park Lane Movie House that is on 89th Street on the corner of 1st Avenue, on the north side of the street. Across from the Park Lane is a build that had an alcove of sorts that one could sit in. It was on the street side and I guess that was why the window was shut off and bricked off but enough for one to sit in.

It was in this alcove that I was able to meet one of the lovelies of 89th Street. I remember  a story that I heard about a machine gun that was place on the roof of this movie house and was discussing this fact with the lass. I always wondered if it was folklore or what.

For now, a few pictures of 89th Street. Did you live on 89th Street? Share some memories.

I have this building as an old building on 89th Street and York Avenue and found the address but have since misplaced it. There is a steeple of sorts in the background. So, if that rings a bells with anyone, please let me know if you can shed some light on this building and its location.

greendougherty.Blog – Oldies (Doo Wop) Music – Crests

Featured

Crests

Another group that falls into one of my favorite groups is that of the Crests, or, Johnny Maestro and the Crests. The lead singer of the Crests, Johnny Maestro, recently passed away and was overlooked by the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, unfortunately.

Fortunately, for the rest of us, we have all the recordings, and a few that I’m still looking for to share with everyone. My first memory of a tune by Johnny Maestro and the Crests is that of “My Juanita”. It was in the candy store on First Avenue on 91st Street and it would always be playing on the jukebox. Enjoy.

Another very popular tune form the Johnny Maestro and the Crests is that of Sixteen Candles, that was the age of most of the people that loved Johnny Maestro and the Crests.

And the tune by Johnny Maestro and the Crests that had you dancing with your Sweetest One at the moment was “Sweetest One”. Enjoy.

Also, there are a few other tunes that were sung by Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge. Here is one of those tunes.
